Weil ich in meinem bisherigen Leben das Gefuhl hatte, nicht richtig gelebt zu haben, habe ich zuhause alles aufgegeben und bin mit dem Rad ein Jahr lang alleine durch Sudost-Europa, Kleinasien, Syrien, Jordanien, Sinai, AEgypten, Sudan, Tschad, Kamerun...bis nach Dakar gefahren, habe fast immer draussen geschlafen, am Feuer gekocht, und das Wasser aus den Brunnen der Einheimischen getrunken. Ich hatte mir vorher weder irgendein Visum besorgt, noch eine Krankenversicherung abgeschlossen. Ich war standig der Natur ausgesetzt mit all ihren Unberechenbarkeiten, habe bizarre Landschaften erlebt und Land und Leute der jeweiligen Lander kennengelernt. All dies hat auch einen seelischen Prozess in mir in Gang gesetzt, der mich verandert und nachdenklich gestimmt hat. Besonders in Afrika habe ich Erfahrungen gesammelt, die mich dazu bewogen haben, den hiesigen Urteilen uber ein armes, hilfebedurftiges, leidendes Land zu misstrauen. Die Augen der meisten afrikanischen Menschen, denen ich begegnet bin, und das waren nicht gerade wenige, haben mich klar angeschaut, offen und ohne Misstrauen. Ich war uberwaltigt von der Gastfreundschaft, die ich uberall erlebte und wunsche mir, dass wir bei uns in Deutschland fremden Menschen jeglicher Couleur so begegnen, wie ich in der Fremde empfangen worden bin.
