Vom 11.-14.9. 1985 fand in Graz der ZAK 85, die 19. gemeinsame Tagung der Deutschen Gesellschaft fur Anasthesiologie und In- tensivmedizin, der Schweizerischen Gesellschaft fur Anasthesio- logie und Reanimation (Societe Suisse d' Anesthesiologie et de Reanimation) und der Osterreichischen Gesellschaft fur Anasthe- siologie, Reanimation und Intensivtherapie statt. Die nunmehr vorliegenden Kongrel3bande geben die ungekurzten wissenschaft- lichen Vortrage wieder, die zu den Hauptthemen und Workshops von den zur Teilnahme eingeladenen namhaften deutschsprachi- gen und auslandischen Kollegen gehalten wurden. 1m vorliegenden Band wird das Hauptthema dieses Kongresses behandelt, namlich die Anasthesie im kleinen und mittleren Krankenhaus. Anhand von Umfragen in der Schweiz, Osterreich und der Bundesrepublik Deutschland wurden die Fragen der per- sonellen Besetzung, der Zahl der Anasthesien, der Ausstattung der Operationssale, des Aufwachraumes und der Intensivpflege- station sowie Struktur und Leitung von Anasthesieabteilungen diskutiert. In einem weiteren Workshop wurden Fragen der Si- cherheit in der Anasthesie behandelt - ein Problem, das fur jedes Krankenhaus von grol3ter Bedeutung ist und fUr das nunmehr grundlegende Richtlinien existieren. Dariiber hinaus wird in die- sem Band auch die Transfusionsmedizin mit dem aktuellen Stand der Bluttransfusion, Autotransfusion und Hamodilution sowie den humoralen Faktoren behandelt. Die optimale Mitarbeit der Autoren hat es ermoglicht, dal3 die Kongrel3bande nur wenige Monate nach Ende des Kongresses in gedruckter Form vorliegen konnen.
