Otto Ruppius war ein deutscher Schriftsteller. Er lebte von 1819 bis 1864 und starb kurz vor seinem 45. Geburtstag in Berlin. Als Ruppius Ende 1849 in Deutschland eine Haftstrafe antreten sollte, floh er in die USA wo er als Musiklehrer tatig wurde. Nach einer Zeit als Redakteur in New York zog es ihn im Sommer 1861 zuruck nach Deutschland, wo er sich in Leipzig nieder liess. Ruppius gehoert zu den grossen deutschen Schriftstellern des 19. Jahrhundert. In seinen Romanen benutzt er eine zum Teil sehr realistische Sprache. Viele seiner Werke thematisieren das Schicksal deutscher Auswanderer im Kampf zwischen Gut und Boese. Der hier vorliegende 5. Band seiner gesammelten Erzahlungen beinhaltet den Romane Ein Deutscher . Das Buch ist ein qualitativ hochwertiger Nachdruck des fast vergessenen Originals aus dem Jahr 1889. Der Belletristik-Verlag verlegt unterhaltende Literatur bekannter und unbekannter historischer Autoren. Dem interessierten Leser werden so teilweise langst nicht mehr verlegte Werke wieder zugangig gemacht.
