Product Information

The FIFA series continues on PS2 with FIFA Soccer 08, featuring 30 official leagues, 38 authentic stadiums, and over 12,500 licensed players. The most notable addition from past iterations is the "Be a Pro" cooperative season mode. This allows up to four friends to play on the same team in specific positions that remain locked throughout a match and over the course of a season. Players in this mode can create a custom profile to track personal statistics and to develop their athlete over time. Both team and individual tasks are presented before each game that award experience points when successfully met. This experience can then be used to enhance an athlete's core attributes, with the "winner" being the player with the most experience at season's end.<br><br>Returning to the game is the Manager Mode, which offers a few new additions such as the ability to schedule training sessions during the week. New manual controls involve holding down a button to determine the strength or distance for passes and crosses. Goalkeepers can be switched from AI to manual control at any point, with saves, throws, drop kicks, and slide tackles all initiated with single button presses. Internet support is featured in Interactive Leagues, where the online community takes control of opposing teams in your selected club's real-life schedule. Online players can also update their squads by downloading current lineups, formations, and strategies. PS2 owners with a PSP can transfer data to the handheld to continue career progress and to export created players.

    Fifa 08 PS2

    For the first time you can control the goalkeeper while playing. Graphics are great and the instant replay works well with many camera views. All of the lineups are accurate and you can go through many seasons in manager mode. Manager mode is realistic because players retire each year and scouting is an option. Also, you can upgrade your staff and choose your pre-season games. A new feature in this year is be-a-pro co-op season where you design a player and carry out game play as that individual. There is also zone play where you can pick positions to control i.e. you could choose to control the goalie or all four defenders. However, you can only control the certain position you pick. A con is that the game freezes ocassionally (once every 20 games or so).

    FIFA 08 (PS2)

    I own FIFA 07, and currently it was my favorite title, but FIFA 08 really did make it more realistic out there in the field when you playing. I mean, the fact that you can now choose where the ball goes at all time when you are passing. The chance to control the keeper at one on one situations. Plus the new, Be A Pro mode is something different to try. Fun. I'm satisfied in buying this title. I'm a big FIFA fan, and will continue to be with titles like these. So Far, No dislikes. I bought this title to continue my collection of FIFA titles, plus I had previously played this title and enjoyed it.

    good game not that much better

    FIFA 08 makes small tweaks to last year's game, adds some new controls, and introduces new gameplay modes such as Be-a-Pro In terms of the core gameplay, FIFA 08 doesn't feel that much different from its predecessor. It's been refined slightly, and now it's a little more difficult and even faster than ever.

    Great game.

    This is a great game. It has new features like the "Be a pro" feature. This is much like the Superstar mode in Madden football. It has good graphics and is much much better than FIFA 07. In the Be a Pro mode, you can play with friends and have as many as 4 made up people playing on any team in any league. This game also has new leagues with all new teams to choose from. The game is great for parties and for friendly rivalries. It is definitely the best FIFA so far. (FIFA 09 and FIFA 10 may be better but they are much more expensive). This game is great for Playstation 2.

    Very Good

    It is a great game. I love FIFA so much. I can't wait for the new ones to come out each year. It is the best soccer game out there and constantly gets better and better as the game progresses. If you like soccer, you'll love this game.
