--- The Car – Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera LP570-4. --- The Gallardo was Lamborghini’s best selling model with more than 14,000 units sold. This included varying trim levels, drive train options, and even country-only exclusive units. The car is powered by a V-10 unit with a 6 speed manual OR a semi-automatic, paddle shifted “E-Gear” unit. The car is four-wheel driven. The Superleggera model is a lightened version of the base unit. It is considered to be more track-day ready than the base model. Interior panels can be found executed in carbon fiber and leather trim replaced with Alcantara. Basically, the Superleggera model outperforms its more tamed, more comfortable, touring-ready sibling in many ways. --- The Model – Available Only from AUTOart in 1:18 scale. --- Other more affordable marques like Maisto / Bburago, and if I am not mistaken, even Motor Max, and another mid-range marque such as Norev executed the Lamborghini Gallardo in 1:18 scale as well. Maisto’s iteration of their Superleggera was based on the 2008, first generation chassis. While Norev did a spyder and a coupe version of the non-Superleggera model. Unless anyone can prove me wrong, I state it that ONLY AUTOart did the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera in 1:18 scale, specifically. They also did in a smaller 1:43 scale, but that will be another matter of review. --- The Only Brand To Do It But Got It Wrong… a Bit. --- Diecast car collecting communities were quick to point out that the front end (or nose) of this model car was done rather incorrectly. One source have done a comparative, side-by-side, half-by-half photo of the front view of the car both in scale model and real full sized form. The photos in the site will be more than enough to prove. Even a few interior bits and engine bay details are missing. I suggest visiting lambodiecast(dot)com for the full extent of this issue. --- It Maybe Wrong… But It Is Currently Priced Less than Typical AUTOart MSRP --- Most of the collectors who got this model upon initial release paid 120 to 140 USD. Today, it seems that AUTOart is clearing their inventory and dealers and distributors are also passing the savings to you. You can find this model (as of the time of this written review, December 2015) for roughly 95 USD. Consider yourself lucky if you don’t have this model yet and feel like adding it to your collection. Brag it over your friends that you saved some money and they didn’t! Once the currently discounted inventories are gone, it is highly likely that it will appreciate in value again. Typical of the way the hobby of die-cast car collecting works. I suggest you get a copy NOW if you plan to do so. Besides it will also make an awesome memorabilia knowing that the Gallardo is now phased out from the Lamborghini factory to make room for the Huracan. --- Summary --- Model cars are NOT toys hence it is NOT something I would recommend for little children who see every miniaturized, scaled-down car is for playing. Consider proper model cars to be very fragile. I highly recommend AUTOart models for the most discerning collector, but one needs to be honest with oneself if he is willing to spend money in this kind of luxury. And yes, this model is entertaining, because scale model cars are art!Read full review
