Stadium Arcadium is a good album--but why is it so long? But that's not really a bad thing. You get more quantity for your money. You have more variation as well. This is assuming you feel like listening to a ton of RHCP. I have the RHCP's most recent albums before this: Californication and By the Way. I have never felt compelled to listen to both of the albums sequentially--and I don't think that it makes me less of a fan, I think that they have a serious problem with hard limiting (they crank up the volume in post-production, making virtually all of their songs deafening to listen to, even at low volume). Stadium Arcadium follows this trend, but not to the same degree. The fact is, I can take loud music in small amounts, but this is a lot--an eardrum-deadening amount of loud music. A single album, Californication or By the Way is a lot by itself. Which isn't to say that the album isn't good. I'd be hard-pressed to give the album 5/5, but I'd also be hard-pressed to give it 3/5. It has a lot of great songs, but it gets tiresome after a while. Buy the album and mix the songs you like into one short CD.Read full review
This cd shows just how the band has changed over the years. They've come a long way from the days of "Freaky Styley" and "The Uplift Mofo Party Plan". This cd showcases a more mature style of music without compromising the unique sound and style of guitarist John Frusciante, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and singer Antony Kiedis. The double cd gives fans hours of listening pleasure. If you're expecting the sounds of the early Peppers, this is not the cd for you. The cd is more along the lines of "Californication" and "By the Way". A definite treasure!
Here's the lowdown: Stadium Arcadium was supposed to be a trilogy (released 6mos apart from each other). But the band decided to condense it into one album so fans could listen to all the songs. So from 35 it became 28. Okay. They mellowed down. It's not as heavy as BloodSugarSexMagik. But it's still great. There's no new sound or new gimmick. It's purely Red Hot vibe. Ya know, a lot of rap, funk, a lil metal, some pop and rock o'course. It's more By the Way-ish and Californication-sh than BSSM-ish. It's like a mixture of the previous albums. It makes you feel like you've heard the songs somewhere (but not in a cueshit-rip-off way) already. Watch out (as you should always do) for Flea's funky minimalist melodies, John's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G progressions (thank God for his talent), Chad's bouncy beats, and the uniquely lovely voice of Anthony. Add good lyrics (while some are incoherent) and catchy hooks. And there's 28 of them! Almost all songs are good. (some sound the same as the previous songs). I recently lost all my music in a fire, so it was off to Ebay to find and replace a few of my favorites. Red Hot Chili Peppers always sound great, and although this album has 10 years on it, it still sounds super. It makes me happy. Love the Peppers and a short look around Ebay will definitely find you a copy at a good price! Still rockin'!

I bought the Stadium Arcadium [Digipak] - Red Hot Chili Peppers CD for my 11 year Grandson for Christmas this year. All I heard about was how he wanted a RED HOT CHILI PEPPER CD! I did not even know who they were and could not find it in the stores so I went looking on EBay. Of course someone had it. It was a Great Deal. Brand New Double CD. Never Opened and a great price. I felt my Grandson would love it since it came with both CD's. Of course he was thrilled! I was the GREATEST GRAMMA! He says it is so cool, has all the songs he wanted etc,. I will never regret this purchase and am glad I chose to give it a try! I later found out that this same CD would have cost much more. So in comparison to other online shops or malls.. there is no comparison!
