I do a lot of typing and have ran several different solutions for getting ribbon in my typewriters. The Smith Corona Skyriter is one of the few that will not take standard size spools. What to do, if you loose or never had the original small spools. First forget about using calculator ribbon spools if you want a hassle free experience. Instead just put the change down and purchase this ribbon. It works perfectly as if the 1950's retail office machine stores where open and providing the best and newest in technology. Not "original"
Original spools are medal, these are not. The ink is very light and even when pushing hard on the typewriter the letters come out faded. This is the only place I've been able to find the right size for my 1950's typewriter so I would purchase again.

AMAZING!
Never thought I would be able to easily obtain something like this for my typewriter!!! I have a vintage 1956 Smith-Corona Portable Skywriter with the original ink ribbon. It still worked, but definitely needed a fresh new ribbon. This fit and worked beyond expectation. Very easy to install, durable and spectacular quality. I think I'm going to have to buy another spool...

This is not a joke - I initially had ordered this from a shop on the east coast. Guess what? Didn't fit. Said it would fit my antique typewriter down to the model size. Didn't fit. So I called the shop in New England up. Her response? "Oh, uh, well you need 1 5/8 inch typewriter ribbon.... NO ONE has that." So, off it was to eBay and this great seller! good to find this discontinued ribbon for our old smith corona..now mainly used for typing recipes onto index cards :-) .paid good money for it though! ...but good original quality, accurately and well detailed specs advertised. (4 stars only due to price.)
