I ordered this Intel Pentium D 945 3.4 GHz LGA 775 to upgrade Intel Pentium 4 ,3GHz CPU. The D945 have dual core. Pros: faster system, much better multitaskings. Contra: the CPU temperature is higher, 65-68 Celsius Works fine anyway.

I had a Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ (1core) and it performed good, however this is a game changer everything is much smoother from videos to gaming (720p) it doesnt get that hot if you apply the thermal paste by spreading it on the cpu instead of pie sized grain and you don't even need an afterstock cooler. I'm now running windows 7 x64 with nvidia gforce 7600gs and it can run some of the newer games (Skyrim almost on ultra without hogging) Just Cause 2, PES13, Crysis at lightning speeds etc.. Would suggest if you need an upgrade!

This is a good chip to make improvements to existing systems that need upgrading. Although it depends primarily on the architecture of the existing motherboard and other form factors. The unit itself is idea for highere performance on older equipment but care should be taken to properly size the processor to the equipment.
