Why I bought it. I bought this lens because I wanted a fast “prime” lens with good image quality to add to my Olympus four-thirds system. It covers the most useful range for portraiture - a 50mm lens on the four thirds system is equivalent to 100mm on a full frame 35mm film camera. It has the added bonus of being designed as a macro lens. What I like about it. The image quality is excellent. Wide open at F2 I can get adequate differential focus. It’s a reasonably small and light weight lens. Bing part of the Olympus HQ series it’s splash proof when used with an E series professional body. What I dislike about it Being a macro lens, auto focus can be slow if it decides to explore the whole range. How does it compare? Faster and better quality than any other four thirds prime lenses that I can afford. Inevitably, less versatile than a zoom. Easily beats the kit lenses, even though these are very good.Read full review
Quality is better than my Olympus 12-60mm F2.8-4, got it at a very good price £206+£10.99 postage, well worth it. small size so can fit in camera bag with no problem. focusing speed on my E3 is better than I was expecting after reading some reviews on speed, noise not to bad either. so I'm very happy with this purchase.
So far so very good. I am very impressed with this lens, focusing is fast (enough), although on moving subjects it seems a little slow, and very sharp. A great lens, as with most zuiko lenses
