This is a two disc set and a LONG one! The feature is very long, but never dull. You'll get the story of ECW...the rise and fall (go figure). You'll hear the story of how ECW changed it's promotion, changed the style of wrestling and changed the industry of wrestling FOREVER. The feature flows in a chronological order of ECW's life and you'll get the stories and comments from (almost) all of those who participated in it. Heyman, Tazz, Dreamer, McMahon, Bischoff and so many more will share candid remarks and comments as they discuss the progression of ECW. Just the story of ECW is worth while, but to get so many comments from so many people make this story much more personal. It's really amazing to understand and to feel what these people felt about ECW. It's also great because you'll get to see A LOT of clips - some rare, some not so rare - from ECW shows and PPVs. Unfortunately, the extras aren't as beefy as the feature presentation. There are several matches which are AWESOME - such as Tazz vs Bam Bam Bigelow! I just wish there were more matches on here. The matches, although few, are still great and you'll still be so thoroughly entertained by the biography portion that you'll love this DVD. I think anyone who didn't get to see the original ECW should get this DVD to see what the cult-like phenomenon was all about. If you were an original ECW fan, you'll love to see and hear the story from those who lived it, plus the matches will satisfy the part of you that craves ECW's glory days. Unless you completely hated ECW, you should get this DVD set.Read full review
Listen the WWE with Heyman did a great job on this 2 Disc set. Including matches, information, & footage. Only if you are a True Ecw Fan like me. You would get the Forever Hardcore Instead or own both which I do. WWE leaves out Sabu,Terry Funk, Shane Douglas, Joey Styles, Francine,New Jack, Axl Rotten, even Tod Gordon himself. If you want to know the really truth you have to own both. To get the whole perspective on the matter. Forever Hardcore is highly, highly UNDERRATED!! IF YOU SEE 1 GET IT. TRUST ME YOU WILL LOVE IT. BUT GET BOTH IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE REAL RISE AND FALL OF ECW!!! ALSO PLEASE LET EBAY KNOW IF MY REVIEW OR GUIDES ARE HELPFUL AS I'M WORKING ON MORE REVIEWS AND THEY JUDGE ME BEING 1 BY THAT ONEMIXER
This is one of the best wrestling DVDs I have seen in awhile. It contains many classic matches of Mick Foley (as Cactus Jack), as well as Rey Mysterio vs Psychosis. You get a good idea of the history of the company when it was Eastern Championship Wrestling, and get an idea of why it fell apart. Some parts of this are not for the faint of heart. There are some very bloody matches, as well as a one where Sabu gets a pretty major injury during a match, tapes himself up, and continues wrestling! I would definitely recommend this DVD to any wrestling fan that watched during the 90s, and I think that anyone curious about how wrestling in the 90s was (and have it written from the perspective of a smaller third company not totally involved in the monday night wars... even though the comments had to be approved by the lawyers of the winner of the monday night wars... come on WWE, you know we can see through some of it). Compared to other wrestling DVDs, this is almost a holy grail of what a wrestling documentary should be. It was honest where it needed to be, and when the lawyers had to censor anything, the wresters and Paul Heyman did their best to make it understandable to the common fan (not a crazy Mark that thinks they know everything). I'd say that this is a DVD that you could watch with someone that doesn't really follow wrestling, and they'd still be interested. I highly recommend anyone to watch it.Read full review
This DVD is awesome. I can't believe Vince McMahon let paul heyman say some of the things he did in this DVD. As usual, Paul told the truth abouth his baby, ECW. ECW was a driving force behind the now classic Monday Nite Wars. Now we find out why ECW failed which is because of money, and not having as much as Ted Turner or Vince McMahon. ECW changed wrestling as we know it. Not only with edgier material with violent matches and what not, but ECW brought WRESTLING back when WWE and WCW were just focused on creating cartoon characters and just focusing on trying to make stars no matter what. ECW forced the rest of the industry to change, and its for the better! It saddens me that some of their top stars, including Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit made their start there, only to leave for bigger and better things which forced them to get bigger and better. We all know the end result of that. This is a great DVD and is much better than some of WWE's other "true" DVDs. This is highly recommended for any wrestling fan, past or current.Read full review
I bought this dvd because I have always been a huge fan of ECW, but I wanted to learn more about what went on behind the scenes. This documentary takes you from the beginning of ECW to the very last day. It is well worth the money and time to watch it. Once I started watching it, I didn't want to stop. It tells you all about the insides and out of ECW. I talks about how other organizations stole their wrestlers and their style. It talks about how although Paul Heyman is an excellent promoter, his financial decisons led to the demise of the company. It gives an insight into several of the big names in ECW, some of their storylines, and why they left the company. It also includes a bonus disc with several good ECW matches. I'll leave it at that, but I suggest that if you're a true wrestling fan then you must own this!!!Read full review
