although an offshore manufacturer, good quality and well constructed, yes its a knockoff on other wander lead mobile antennas, but easy to tune and use. One niggle, I would replace the allen set screw on the whip for a hardened one, especially if you make constant adjustments. I purchased mine to dedicate to a 75 meter frequency, since my sd330 doesnt like to tune that low.

good price for what you get but it is a bit annoying to have to take the antenna down to change bands.

With the purchase of a newer car, I had been looking for a multi-band to reduce the proliferation of antennas., add to that, I wished for an antenna which was light with very low wind resistance so as not to mechanically overload the mount. The HVT-400B fills my requirements admirably. It tunes to a very low VSWR and appears to be ruggedly constructed. A winner in my book.

The construction seems fine. The top element rattles in the bottom, but a tweak with a pair of pliers should cure that. Haven't had a chance to load it up yet. I would have appreciated a bit more puality in the tuning wire and plugs, but for the money, its a deal.
