Lightweight, ideal size...
I had one of these, nearly identical. It was a product sold in Safeway stores, bought it in '83, eldest daughter broke the blade off last year, with some aggressive scraping. I discovered this one, and bought it. It is perfect in every way, only downside is that the wood handle was untreated, or 'sealed' with a very light coat. I have sanded it lightly, and given it 2 coats of Flecto Varathane, sanded between coats... This is NOW regarded as my favorite extension, I use it exhaustively. I always wash it by hand, with the care I give all my tools. (knives, utensils, automotive, and hobby tools) I recommend this to any person that frequents his/her kitchen...Perfect spatula.I had one of these, nearly identical. I read the description and assumed the 10 inches refered to the length of the spatula, not the overall length. The reason for four star and not five is that it is a little small for my purposes and the ten inches is the overall length, including the wooden handle. nice heavy quality, it should last for quite some time, but I was intending to use it to take soufles out of the oven, and it is a little small for that. otherwise I am quite happy with the purchase. great for flipping dollar pancakes on the griddle. Just the right size
The flat part is 2 by 4 inches with a 4.5 inch wood handle, just what I wanted. As another reader says, the wood handle could use some coats of varathane or equivalent as the dishwasher roughens it up pretty well the way it comes.
