For its size, quite good sensor and lens. Especially sharp images at full telephoto. Compared same shots to bigger and better and more expensive Sony RX1; at the same scale image, the RX1 was clearly better, but zooming in on the scene, the smaller RX100VI had better resolution. At low light, RX1 showed less noise, but RX100 sensor still very good. Over all, a good trade off between a small, pocketable camera and a better somewhat larger one.

I think you need to know a little about photography to get the most out of this and it’s price. I keep it on aperture priority, x-fine jpeg, constantly change the iso in accordance with the needs of the shot, and keep a small touch movable focus/spot meter box. With a little practice the controls and menus are super fast and easy to use and switch back and forth to self-timer, burst, fill-flash, bracket and iso. I manually bracket with the focus box and 1/2 touch of shutter button. The pop-up viewfinder is simply awesome in bright light, best I have seen. The Sony glass is first class. If you master 5-7 controls you can set up a shot in an instant, something I found lacking in the competition. And you get the bonus of the 24mm, 200 mm, and 85-120 portrait range. To take indoor portraits and groups simply raise the iso to adjust for the smaller available apertures. I use the flash only outdoors for fill. There is a software based smoothing function that seems to work fine And if you want to go further, and study the 500 plus page downloadable manual, there is a lot more including video. Some recommendations. Carry an extra battery, use the wrist strap while shooting, buy the app $15 Sony rubber stick on accessory grip.Read full review

Great pint & shoot. High quality photos. It takes a little work to get it set up like I want but once done, fantastic. Very small so it;s easy to carry everywhere and not miss shots. It will never take the place of my full frame but is a fantastic travel camera.

This is a great camera that you can put in you pocket. It makes great photographs. It has a lot of features that are on higher end Sony cameras. It exceeds my expectations. I would buy it again.

As a photographer/traveler for over 30 years I was always looking for ways to minimize my equipment without sacrificing quality, this one has someone like me in mind. My only complaint with this (and my rx10) is that the lens edges are not as sharp as the leica lens on my DMC-FX47 and not consistent edge sharpness, based on the reviews I expected better. Outside of that it is perfect as a one camera travel solution for pics and HD video. as always bring a spare point and shoot just in case (I bring a dmc-zs5).
