Sharper than Tamron 70 300 USD at 300 mm. Balances great with Sony A57. Nice for travel.

Much better than the Tamron equivalent that I have had. Much sharper images and very quiet in operation.

An excellent budget lens as long as you know the limitations. The front element rotates which makes the use of filters difficult. Between 55-250mm this lens is pretty sharp especially at F8 and very reasonable at 300mm. If it loses focus its not the quickest lens for re-finding the focus of a moving subject. However for the money (I paid £150) its hard to beat. I've used a Tamron 70-300mm VC and Nikon 70-300mm VR in the past and I'd rate it slightly better than the Nikon at 300mm and on par with the Tamron at 300mm. An excellent budget zoom lens.
