About this product

Product Information

Whether it's due to the manufacturer's reluctance to license its product, a simple lack of games, or that pesky $200,000 price tag, most gamers have not had the chance to climb into the driver's seat of either a real or a virtual Ferrari. But that all changes in Ferrari Challenge: Trofeo Pirelli, where players can strap on the five-point harness and speed around 16 tracks modeled after real courses on the official European and North American Ferrari Challenge series. More than 50 Ferraris are available for use, from upgraded Challenge vehicles such as the 355, the FXX, and the 430 Challenge, to production versions of the 588 and 575, to classics such as the 250 GTO and the 275LM; all designed using real photographic scans and original blueprints supplied by the manufacturer.

Game modes include a reproduction of the real-life Challenge series, Arcade mode, Quick Race, Time Trial, and Ferrari Collector Card Battle, with each mode fully supporting the Wii Remote's motion controls. Developer Eutechnyx has imbued the game with a number or graphical flourishes as well, from a damage system that features scratches, dents, and fully detachable parts, to complete engine and cockpit modeling with accurate and functional dashboard gauges, to environmental effects such as smoke, dust, water sprays, and dynamic lighting. Creative players can also design custom logos, graphics, and text for their vehicles, and the game features running commentary from Top Gear host Tiff Needell.

  • Given the marque represented, I expected more.

The game offers a nice variety of cars, tracks, and race types. I like most of the music but still turn it off while racing. I won't bore you with a list of cars or tracks; such info is available elsewhere. Why would someone use push buttons for brake and throttle inputs? I often find myself blipping the throttle when full throttle isn’t appropriate. Might as well be driving a Sopwith Camel instead of a classic Ferrari. The graphics are good enough to provide an immersive experience, especially with the driver cam view. Cars in rear mirror are just basic polygons. Limiting car details in rear view likely helps frame rate. Damage modeling is minimal. You’ll see some bent sheetmetal if you crash your car but performance doesn’t seem to be affected. If you rub another car, you'll hear a ...

  • Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli (Wii)

I saw an ad for this game in Car and Driver and, being the Ferrari nut I am, HAD to get it. First of all Wii is not known for awesome graphics. The graphics in this game aren't bad but they won't be the same as the PS3 or XBox version so bear this in mind. You can find demo videos of this game online. Because you're using a Wii controller (get at least a basic steering wheel!) the car responds to ANY motion of the steering wheel and, IMHO is accurate enough...especially at 100+ mph. It takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it you'll have a blast. Logitech makes a more stationary steering wheel but it's around $90...much more than what I paid for the game. Call me cheap but unless I was a real racing nut I couldn't see paying that much. Maybe Santa will surprise ...

  • Quite a Challenge!

  • great game

great game. a very realistic feel for driving the ferrari. bought for my dad and he really enjoys it. he was a big schumacher fan.

  • Ferrari Fanatic

My son had his 14th birthday coming up and he is a Ferrari fanatic. This game allows him the challenge to drive and race his dream cars until he is able to afford one of these pieces of art someday.
