    Nice, Reasonably-Priced Wood Shogi Pieces

    The Shogi pieces were exactly as described and arrived complete and with no damage. The kings (which are the largest pieces) are about 1 1/8 inches wide at the base, and so I think would fit on most Shogi Boards, which tend to run about 12 by 13.5 inches. The wood is nice and the calligraphy is readable. It is in a calligraphic style, though, which took me a bit of getting used to if you are used to seeing pieces with a more printed style. The wooden box is also nice, fits all the pieces easily, and is quite compact. I did not rate the durability of the product. They are wood with no moving pieces, so they should be pretty durable, but the pieces seem to be stamped and I do not know whether the calligraphy on the pieces will wear off, or how long that will take.     Nice for the Price

    Quality Shogi boards are expensive. This set of pieces is a nice mid-range offering that will go well with the board i plan to build as a gift. Much better than one of the lower end plastic sets, but won't price the gift out of my range at hundreds of dollars.
