    An exact replacement for a flawed gun.

    This is a like-for-like replacement for the gun that broke on my original desoldering station. You get the same length of tubing and power-lead (along with the fitted DIN connector) as before. The black ring that the metal part of the soldering head is attached to, fits into a fairly weak couple of slots on the beige part of the gun housing. This is what eventually snapped on my old one and I fully expect this to do the same after a similar amount of use. It's a shame as, although it's a cheap system on the whole, it's pretty good and works well as long as you keep up the cleaning and old solder removal. Having this obvious design flaw is something that seems could have been easily avoided.

    Decent zd915 replacement desoldering gun

    Decent replacement gun, release mechanism for the tube is much improved over the original. Only thing that stops it being 5-stars is the slightly flimsy plastic trigger.

    Well-made new-style desoldering gun

    The key advantage of this new-style desoldering gun is that it's much easier to extract the glass tube for solder-emptying. And it all feels a bit more robust than the old design. I haven't used it seriously yet, but I'm hopeful that it will work reliably for a long time.
