    A misunderstood classic

    Atom Heart Mother is a frequently overlooked and often misunderstood Pink Floyd album. Released in 1970, came at a time when the band was struggling to find a new musical direction. following the departure of Syd Barrett, moving from psychedelia to progressive rock. This process would not come to full fruition until the release of Dark Side of the Moon three years later. While the album does have its fans, including the late film director Stanley Kubrick, who considered using selections from it in A Clockwork Orange, most listeners regard it with puzzlement and many are dismissive of it, including members of Pink Floyd. My own feeling toward the album is a bit more on the charitable side. If you like ambitious, prog rock, it's a pretty interesting listen, but it's a must-have title only if ...
