I opted to buy a hat stretcher and give it a shot. The item turned up and it is made of good quality good, a strong metal stretcher in the middle and had very easy to understand instructions. And it worked for my hats! I've used it on baseball caps, cowboy hats and a military cap and it works amazing. Great value, does what it needs to do!

It looks simple, a couple of bits of wood and a turnbuckle and you could make one yourself, but realistically, would you be able to get it so tight, and would you ever get around to it? These are great, I'm buying one for every hat I own.
