    Essential for Navigation

    This classic work is virtually essential to anyone attempting to learn coastal piloting, celestial navigation, and dead reckoning navigation. It includes well-written and accurate information on the history of such matters. Well-illustrated and containing excellent examples, it is a very good example of text-book excellence. My copy is the 12th (1969) Edition, so materials on electronic navigation are of course dated. However, most of the book is certainly useful. It is, in short, a true classic, worthy of its many decades as THE standard work on the subject.
