The seller is a very giid communicator and undertandable, and paid back before he received the item back. Its shame the item was not compatible to my laptop. The only issue is it cost almost third of the price of the item to return the product.

    Prompt replacement for a broken hard drive

    Exactly what was need although second hand and refurbished it looked like new and performed perfectly and at an unbelievable price.

    Purchased this as an upgrade for an old laptop well worth the money had no problem installing it so far so good it's working fine well pleased.

    40gb ide 2.5"

    fine starter hd for older laptops but cant compete with sata for speed for read or write they are good for having your windows install on if you want to use an external for keeping your data seperate i bought mine for a nc6000hp laptop which only comes with a 20gig version of this so this doubles the capacity making the laptop a bit more user friendly

    Now I have got it working a good working disk drive

    On arrival I was going to format the drive, as I do all second hand drives I buy, but noticed it only showed 15GB not 40GB. Having now investigated further and after downloading some disk formatting software I have found that it actually contained 3 partitions. I finally have a 40GB drive (formatted to 37.2GB) which I can now clone my laptop onto. So in short nothing wrong withn the actual product, working well and the usual post formted 37.2 GB available for use.

    Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 40gb,IDE Hard Drive

    What can be said about something you fit inside something else to store information,it is of a standard format like a million others it has no merit as a stand alone item just looks bland an unatractive an does nothing. However when fitted inside a Yamaha keyboard it becomes invisible to view so I cannot confirm as to the visible effects taking place there maybe be an array of flashing cool blue leds down each side I cannot say !. Right now it is quiet and working well, ask me again in two years and if it is still working well and does not sound like a pair of skeletons making love in a tin bath I may rate it as excellent. Having said all that this item was a used item so it could in fact already be more than two years thus making it excellent I cannot say........Ian............
