About this product

Product Information

Springfield's historic Oak Ridge Cemetery is accounted second only to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., as the most visited cemetery in the United States. The burial place of Abraham Lincoln, Oak Ridge's dramatically landscaped grounds are an important contribution to American landscape architecture. A portrait of Victorian sentimentalizing of death, Oak Ridge provides a sublime backdrop for contemplating life. Unlike grim churchyards and bleak graveyards, rural cemeteries are places of great beauty for the living who continue to use them for walking, riding, and quiet reflection. But Oak Ridge's peacefulness has occasionally been disturbed, as in 1876 when gunfire rang out while secret service agents attempted to catch grave robbers who had broken into the Lincoln Tomb.

Received the book in good condition. However it was sent in a freezer bag and a paper envelope. The envelope and bag were both torn and somehow the book was not damaged. Contacted the seller about the packaging and suggested maybe a padded envelope or a couple of pieces of stiff cardboard may offer better protection. Seller said they would pass information on to relevant staff. I doubt I will purchase from this seller again.

Although my book never arrived (lost by Australia Post I’d imagine), I truly could not be more impressed with the service of this seller. I’d waited over three weeks before contacting them to advise them of the non-arrival to allow for ample postage time, and virtually immediately they issued a refund without my even having to ask. Five stars is definitely warranted. I would not hesitate to shop here again! Thank you so much for your promptness in reply and addressing the issue so superbly.

The seller sent the order, though sadly, it never was delivered. This of course is a problem that occurs far too often in the transportation system. Messaging the seller and working out a result that was positive for us, was a stress free process. We want to highly recommend this seller as they are genuinely interested in the buyer’s best interests. They were quick to respond to our query. Ultimately, a refund was issued. Thank you again.
