Excellent neutral microphone for recording classical music
The microphone is exceptional. It has a warm sound, loads of bass response, but also a little boosting in the "air" frequencies. Over-all, it's a very neutral sound. I intend to use it for recording classical double bass and string chamber music. It will do exceptionally well for this purpose. It is very similar to the vintage version of a well-known microphone (C414) that share some design and function elements. It also does very well as a live mic for improving sound quality of zoom teaching. I use this using my Zoom H4n as an audio interface to very good effect. Eventually I will upgrade my interface, and I expect a big improvement. A small note, this did NOT come with a pop filter as advertised. The pop filter was listed in the title of, but not included in the list of contents.The microphone is exceptional. Less is more
The only reason I gave this mic a two star review is that its actually an inferior sound compared to other mics in the SE lineup, I have used this, mic, an SE z5600a mkii and a Gemini tube and for whatever reason I have found all of their tube mics to be voiced poorly ( In truth though the dual tube Gemini suffers the least) Their FET mics are amazing I have the 2200a mki, the titan and the SE Mini all of which are just gorgeous and unique. good build quality though/The only reason I gave this mic a two star review is that its actually an inferior sound compared to other mics in the SE lineup, I have used this, mic, an SE z5600a mkii and a Gemini tube and for whatever reason I have found all of their tube mics to be voiced poorly ( In truth though the dual tube Gemini suffers the least) Their FET mics are amazing I have the 2200a mki, the titan and the SE Mini all of which are just gorgeous and unique. good build quality though/

Great mic!
sE 2200 mics are really great mics. Hand built. It's NOT lightweight. Heavy in this case means quality. The sound compares well to my AKG414 and Neumann tlm103. I have two of these.

Solid Mic for Most Applications
I record music and do field production work; and I love this mic. I use it on vocals, drums, guitars, amps, you name it! It’s also a really nice room mic if you’re near a wall. Very smooth too end and solid midrange with a lot of information to shape your track. Would recommend to anyone professional or novice.
