    LiteOn -- the best choice in optical drives

    LiteOn has been my optical drive brand of choice for almost two decades. I have about 20 LiteOn drives in service on various PCs, and some have burned hundreds of CDs and DVDs. Many points in their favor: * solid construction * hardware rarely fails (actually, I don't think I've ever seen one go bad) * compatible even with cranky systems * better performance at the same nominal speed * better at reading degraded discs * compatible with nearly all burning software * burns almost never fail * upgradeable firmware, tho I've never needed to do this. An interesting point about "cranky hardware": I have an old MacG4 that is hardcoded to a DVD-RAM drive that can only read/write scarce, expensive 2.4GB discs (and it can't read burned CDs at all). So naturally I wanted to upgrade it to a proper ...

    When mounted in computer, both seemed to work well. They have both read both CDs and DVDs, and at least one has burned a DVD successfully.

    Three out of three

    Order 1 and put it in an external burner and it works great. It is very fast and have not made any bad discs It was easy to hookup and had more things than you need to hookup. I like it so good I order another and it was just as good, so I order another make three in all and are very please with all of them. When I need another one I will order another.
