  • Lords of Thunder (sega CD)

Back in the day of 16-bit consoles, shmups were a staple genre. There wasn't much to differentiate between them since most of them were generic 'hold down the fire button and shoot everything' and 'avoid enemies and bullets'. Unfortunately that's what Lords of Thunder is despite its numerous attempts to separate itself from the pack. Compared to other games of this type, Lords of Thunder is very average and its most recognized for its phenomenal soundtrack which is all instrumental butt rock and power metal. I would have ranked this as 'Good' were it the original version on the Turbografx, but this is simply an inferior port to the Sega CD. There are several major differences between the two including a reduced difficulty for the Sega CD version and they rerecorded the music for some ...

  • Maybe the best shmup ever made!

Amazing game,if you are a shooter fan you need to play this game,it only came out on the cd add ons for sega genesis and tg16 so it is a very uncommon title eighter way but for me i enjoy it on sega cd the most and if i could only play 5 games the rest of my life this game would be there, its a must have for me

  • This game is awesome and well wprth it if you can find it for a good price.

I was lucky to find this game for $14.50 and gave it a shot. If you are into classin horizontal shooters, than this is right up your alley! The difficulty is a little lower than the Turbografx-CD version, but the awesome music and the core gameplay is top notch! This game also features rather good voice acting for the time. Unfortunatly, the sound effects aren't that great and they tend to drown out the awesome music.
