The Amazing Panda Adventure
I bought it because my son collects pandas. It's a cute movie -- scenes with the young panda are truly adorable. And the overall theme is a good one. The young boy, however, is a stereotypically obnoxious "ugly American" which I found objectionable, insensitive and I didn't think was necessary to the plot - unless the parents want to use him as an example to their kids of what NOT to do in another country. The mother panda is also rather obviously a puppet, but then maybe I'm just spoiled with more recent special effects! It is, after all, over 10 years old. The scenery was spectacular, and I really liked the scenes in the village, very "consciousness raising", and the boy DID come to realize the error of his ways, so in the end I guess it turned out OK.
