Force-Fed: First song on the album, it's defintely one of the best in my opinion. Dallas and Doc are some of the best new shredders on the music scene. If you can check 'em out live, definitely do so. It's worth it. The Antihero: This song is superior to any other song on the album. Awesome lyrics and the guitar work keeps up with 'em. From the "thrashy" riffs to the dual lead parts to the solo, this song is awesome. Better Days: This song I simply can't stand. Music-wise it's ok, but the vocals are what really kills it for me. Byron's singing is fine, but when Doc sings...that's what does it. Precious Lie: In this song, Byron and Doc really do a good job trading off on the vocal end. Just like usual, the brothers Coyle do well on the guitar end. The only thing about this band I don't like is the fact that they can't really harmonize and they try to sometimes. Cool solo though. Washed-Out World: The beginning comes in some double bass with some slow guitar, and then a little semi-solo thing. After a second though it speeds up and Doc comes in singing. Not the best song on the album, but it's good. Living Nightmare: This song reminds me of some "Ascendancy"-style Trivium by the opening riff, but only the beginning. Pretty awesome song. In the "breakdown" part right before the solo, they come in with this part that'll make you headbang. Soul Engraved: Doc kind of sounds like he's trying to sound like Sully Erna in the chorus. It doesn't sound bad or anything, that's just what it sounds like to me. This isn't really one of my favorite songs on the album, but the ending solo is pretty awesome. Gone Forever: This song is pretty thrashy. One of the better ones. The solo is only ok though...nothing really stands out about it. Judge the Blood: This song starts of with piano coming playing. As you can tell by the name, it's one of the more...political (as is "The Antihero". Not sure if political is the word I'm looking for though) songs. I decided to buy this album because I saw them live with Children of Bodom and Through the Eyes of the Dead. I had never heard anything by them, but they were good enough to make me go out and buy all 4 of their albums. If you like this one, check out "IV: Constitution of Treason".Read full review
God Forbid is one of My favorite bands. Their first 3 releases (Out Of Misery, Reject The Sickness, Determination) is hardcore and untouchable. With their 3rd full length album Gone Forever, the band kind of changed their sound a little bit but its a change for the better. Lead singer Byron Davis for the first time sings instead of just screaming as He did on the previous albums. This is the album that got them invited to Ozzfest and made them bigger than ever. My favorite track on the album is "Washed Out World" I like the vocals as well as the guitar pieces. Other songs include "Anti Hero", "Better Days", "Judge The Blood", and "Force Fed". God Forbid in My opinion has never wrote a bad song. All their albums rock, and I suggest picking this CD up.
Being an Old School metal head and just recently being introduced to the sounds of the modern era of metal I can honestly say It's about time! These guys put it out there and don't let up. A must have for any Metalcore fan and those back from my day (late eighties metal)
