  • classic 74 miles fusion

this is a very interesting release for miles "fusion" era...it seems more intense than some other releases a bridge between agharta and the real far out live evil "bitches brew" 1970/1971 sound...there is a interesting thing when M. Henderson's channel drops out as if the bass gets un-plugged early on one tune...miles playing is still more sparse but not as much as agharta...this one is somewhat more rare than agarta and for a long time only available via japan release...this is still a good listen, and it shows how miles' fusion music progresses

  • Miles at his darkest.

Quality recording of Miles at his creative peak imho. Nice booklet with some cool pictures and art and info about the album. Would recommend to anyone into jazz, experimental, noise, avant-garde.

  • Dark Magus-Miles Davis

Lord have mercy! This album loads up the thunder from cover to cover. The line-up of the band has changed from earlier recordings, as it always is with Miles, but this group really gets it on. There are thrills and chills with no spills. I would suggest this album to anyone that has a lil' Miles already under the skin. Early listeners may have a different experience. Dark Magus just goes to show another element of Miles constant efforts at reaching a place no-one had gone before. I could only speculate at the effect he has had on countless musicians. If you seek the future from the past, Dark Magus will delight. Grab hold with both hands. Anything less, and you will be left spinning in the wake of Miles at his best. Get Dark y'all.

  • DARK MAGUS...Deep magic!

Loads of respect for the reviewer before me (see above.) I'd read other on-lilne reviews that praised it but described it as the darkest Miles. It may be the funkiest Miles and it may be the most demanding Miles (well, Live at the Fillmore is a challenge, but i like this better). Lots of layers, lots of rhythms, lots of explosions and just when it's at its peak, Miles shuts it down for moments of reflection, then it starts right back up. Highly recommended, but not for the novice....
