Drives look great: They test good and seem to have pretty low hours/usage. One in the batch was bad, but getting a replacement has been really easy.

    2 TB Backup Tiger

I purchased this for a 4th HDD in my Nas-4-Free Server. It has worked flawlessly over the last month it has been in service. The only negative thing I have observed about the drive is the noises that it occasionally makes. I have serviced computer for years and Hitachi drives are one of the nosier HDD's I have worked with. Failure wise, they have a good record for what I have used them for. Little or no failures in the NAS servers I have produced. The server that it was placed in is a high end 8 TB NAS box that was built from scratch with all new components. This drive rocks and with the case cover in place you never hear the HDD make any noise. In a computer with all the covers in place, you would never hear its occasional noisy head movement. These are a tough HDD, and I would definitely ...

    Beware of Drive..

Over all these are good drives,, when sold as used drives,,, We got one from New Egg, they sold it as a Manufacturer refurbished It is not,, they is no manufacturer sticker on the drive,, showing it was refurbished. when we installed the drive, it showed over 21.000 hrs on the drive... and all they keep doing was sending us emails, wanting us to buy a warranty,,, this is bad biz, we have sold these drives in the pasted and they are good drives,, but we marked them as Self Refurbished... if you want to ck your hard drives, download CrystalDiskInfo it gives you a complete readout of all your computer's SMART information, as well as a current temperature and health status, and its 100% free,, Hope this helps,,, God Bless To All,, Boe 08-09-2016

  • Seems fine so far

I was hesitant to buy a refurbished drive, however these specific drives are known to be high quality, which is why they are used in enterprise server farms. I'm okay with buying a drive that was used for a server farm. These are most likely a few years old and they are just updating to newer drives, not because these aren't working fine and trying to sell failed drives. S.M.A.R.T data is all 100% On arrival: Power on count: 32 Power on hours: 26,845 I've been using this drive for about 3 days now, 24 hours. Thinking of picking up on another one just because it's a really good deal. I'm using it to store my media, steam library/recordings to be on the safe side for the time being. Also it could be because I got a lucky drive, so make sure you understand what you're buying. 4 stars, ...

  • Great surplus drive.

For the $30 you can generally find these drives for online, pulled fresh some some random datacenter, they are a tremendous value. I purchased 2 of these drives and run then in RAID0 in my server and couldn't be happier. Granted it's a platter drive, so you're not going to see insane speeds or anything, but it easily saturates my GigE network.

  • H-hard drive

Hard drives vary in many demeanor's. Different folks like different products. ie: Some like Ford's others like Chevy's so forth. In the electronic ares some as well I am picky over / about as well. SSD's are another something that has NOT really caught on either. I for one have one and still prefer the old standards. These two I just ordered are still in the s/h box as I have not had a need for them they were purchased as a reserve something. Technically sharing ere I can NOT make a good protective of these units. It maybe months or maybe years before I get the need for them as well. herein these surveys some times are a frivolous questionnaire as well. These particular units may or may NOT be put in service for some real time and as the need for them occurs. Regards j
