My mistake. I wasn't aware that there were such things as low-profile cards. I'll keep it, but I'm on the lookout for a similar network adaptor, but with a 12 cm high back plate. Item delivered was in excellent as-new condition.

  • Inexpensive, and 'just works'

This inexpensive low-profile card delivers two full gigabit copper network connections over one PCI-e slot. It is an Intel chipset based card, so drivers are available for all operating systems from various flavours of Windows (tested with W2K, XP, Win7, Win10) and Linux distributions, including Linux-based appliance grade distros such as OpenElec. Works a treat in an HP N40L microserver, in my case running PFSense as a firewall. The card is recognised by both PFSense and Opnsense, and under PFSense runs both connections at full speed without dropping packets. In two words, it "just works".
