To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Transformers brand, I am collecting every series on D.V.D. At this point, I usually have no choice but to buy most Transformers D.V.D. sets online (curse me for missing the golden age of home media), and have had to deal with some truly subpar products. This is not one of them. The D.V.D. set itself is slightly beaten up, with faded, blunted corners and wear and tear here and there. It’s a set that was clearly used a lot, but the discs function and the box looks good on a shelf with my other Transformers media, so I’m happy with it. As for the show itself… well, it’s Beast Machines. I got this to pad my collection, not because I love the show.

I bought this due to the fact that I own all of the other Transformer DVD sets as well as the toys. And though the story line is okay, it isnt anywhere on par with Beast Wars. Even the toys were lame in comparison. Hasbro was just trying to bridge the gap from beast back to g1 type vehicles, cars, planes etc. This story has to do with metal life forms fused with organic life forms and Megs. trying to wipe out the organic part of it, in short. The biggest gripe I would have to say is the transfer to DVD, its nowhere as sharp or clean looking as I thought it would OR should be. In fact it looks rather color faded like when you leave a colorful box in the sunlight for a few days. Kind of grainy in a way. And its definitely not my T.V. as I have a Mitz. Diamond DLP 1080P HDTV and a Sony Blu-ray player. It just doesn't look that good, maybe its because its dated or what not. But I don't remember it looking this bad. Anyway with that being said. The series is okay once you get past the limited surroundings, cast of characters and strange story lines. There is a reason Beast Machines only lasted as long as it did people. And its actually due to the toys being the worst of any Transformer line EVER! And this weird transformer cartoon didn't help matters. Although it does play into the Beast Wars continuity fairly well and tries to be as good as its predecessor it simply is not as good. And the DVD quality is the worst part of the deal. Maybe if you have a smaller T.V. (mine is 65") it might look better, in fact it probably will look better sense its only broadcast in 480p upgraded. Overall I would only recommend this to die hard Transformer fans like me or to parents who want their children to watch an okay cartoon without any of today's smut or innuendos like (family guy, south park, adult swim stuff etc. etc.) So I give it an average rating. If the transfer would have been better it would have made good.Read full review
Good story line. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 is that the characters are almost always shown in shadow, and it makes it harder to really see their physical detail.

Beast Machines in my opnion is one of the best all CGI (computer graphic) shows to date. The reason for the comment is that the details and the movment that is in the show smooth and that every little detail that comes out is probally only rivaled by todays all cgi box office movies. In the first episode you see how the details was in the Beast Wars episodes Very little details and Minimized movments of the characters. Farther in the show when the autobots met the Matrix (the creator of the autobots) you get to see how they go from mono colors to a rich pallet of colors and hues that bring out every detail in each character. By duing this you can introduce more movents and shadowing to make the characters more life-like that you almost forgot that this a animation move. The story line in the show is one that both kids and adults can both enjoy in that it's not all cartoony sappy and that the it actually has a good flow that make continue on through out the whole series in which you just want to continue to watch it till the end. How one should take care of there enviroment and lose contact with one's inner self. The use of teamwork instead of trying to do everything yourself. In short is that I'll reconmend this movie to all people out there Big or small, young or old, Transformers fans or not to buy this series and enjoy it with your family and freinds and keep it on the top shelf of your collectionRead full review
I absolutely enjoy this DVD set. It is an incredible story with some amazing characters that are loveable from the very first episode. I like the fact that all of the characters return from Beast Wars and their voices are the same. Too often the voices are different when a new show comes out. It's nice to see and hear all of the characters the way they were in Beast Wars. The only thing that I dislike about this show is that one of the main characters (Optimus Primal) is killed off in the last episode. Even though his main objective is finally realized, he doesn't get to share his victory with the other Maximals. So even though Optimus dies, I still love this show and all 3 seasons of Beast Wars that lead upto Beast Machines. I shall always love and enjoy Beast Machines for what it truly is. It's the final chapter in a great story that is awesome to the core. This show is really amazing. To sum it up, all I can say is: I AM TRANSFORMED!Read full review
