    Astonishingly Value!

This review is for the Sigma “C” lens in Nikon mount. I set up a lens test with newspaper classified ads at 32’. A Nikon D5200 with the Sigma “C” vs. the leading competitor's 70D with 400/5.6L. This isn’t a comparison the Sigma could reasonably be expected to win, but a preliminary test showed the 400L might have some difficulty competing. I gave it a little advantage by using the mirror lock & shutter delay on the 70D. The D5200 doesn’t have mirror-up shooting. The 70D is 20MP & the D5200 is 24MP. I compared images at 100%, which also advantaged the 400L because of slightly less enlargement. I shot RAW files; both lenses at maximum aperture; tripod mounted with stabilization off. (The Sigma OS can’t be used on a tripod, but produced tripod quality results on a monopod). My copy of the ...

  • Top critical review

Lens is okay, but not great for me

Image isn't as sharp at 600mm as I had hoped, though some of it could be me. Having trouble with AF, but not sure if it's my D5600 or the lens. Zoom ring is a little stiff and turns the backwards from my other lens. The manual focus ring to me is in a bad location. Tripod mount is in the way of tuning it. .

  • Great for Nature Photography

I bought this lens primarily to increase my zoom capacity for bird photography, and it has not disappointed! As a slight con, there is a bit of searching for focus over 550mm, particularly with small distant objects in fast motion. But the detail the lens is able to capture more than overcomes this! The lens arrived in pristine condition, with all accessories listed. I’ve only had it a couple of weeks, but it has improved my photo quality significantly.

  • Really great lens for the price.

I aways wanted to take pictures of birds at long range, but could not afford the price of the Nikon (or Canon) 600mm. I was really surprised how sharp the pictures came out (especially with a little bit of Photoshop enhancement!). The blue heron was approximately 150-200 yards away.

  • The Sigma 150-600mm is a lens I wanted after reading all the reviews, and I have not been disappointed.

I've been shooting primarly Zoo criters and some Landscape extraction shoots all tripod mounted. I've been completely satisfied with the results. Autofocus as been right on! I just spent a day with my grand kids at the park and on an ice-skating ring. One thing I can say, you will improve your physical condition hand holding, its not light. But if a 68 year older can do it, so can you. I was successful in tracking, and shooting my rug rats and yes auto focus works. So as of right now I happy guy. I would recommend!
