This was one of the best written TV shows of all time and was intelligently written. It had what our lives sometimes miss; loyal friends, humor, sad story lines with episodes that end happily. The pilot episode Castle left me wanting more, much more in fact, and that is exactly what a good pilot should do. The relationship formed between the two leads, as the season progresses, is unquestionably one of the best and is, so far, most endearing. It is impossible to not like them. I've been a fan of Nathan Fillion's since his days on Firefly, and bringing in a relatively newcomer, Stana Katic, with her first leading role, was gold by casting department!! The ABC staff was trying to cut cost and canceled the show. I wish it was picked up by another network like a lot of other shows have (i.e. ... Castle-Complete 1st Season - A ROYALLY Good Adventure!
I bought this DVD set as a gift for my son, I had NEVER watched the show. BUT, over the Christmas Holiday I had the wonderful good fortune to be introduced to a well written and totally enjoyable mystery show. The initial scenes when the body is found will usually make you jump or cause the little hairs on the back of your neck to stand up! It also has just enough comedy to relieve any tension and that would have made Hitchcock proud! Rick Castle is a famous mystery writer that becomes involved in a local NYC homicide. He is called in to advise the police on crimes that are made to resemble murders in his books. He finds first hand day to day homicide investigations to be just the thing he needs for inspiration for his own writting career. The only problem is that he and the lead ... I bought this DVD set as a gift for my son, I had NEVER watched the show. You find yourself trying to solve these cases right along with the detectives. I totally recommend this series, and will be buying the second season whenever it comes out!

My entire family loves this show!! (husband, teen) the writing is quick and sharp, the characters together, wonderful! Stana gets to be beautiful & intelligent. Nathan Fillion still plays a charming scoundrel, very similar to his FIREFLY character. I was ROFL!! when, for the Halloween episode, he dressed as a "Space Cowboy" (the same outfit he wore while filming Firefly/Serenity!!) tooo funny!!! KUDOS TO THE WRITERS, well written story lines, great humor, the characters interaction is flawless! That tension between the two leads will be as TV Land famous as Moonlighting, Remington Steele & X-Files! I bought the dvd set as a gift for the hubby. Also, for the extras & to be able to watch without commercial interruption!!My entire family loves this show!! (husband, teen) the writing is quick and sharp, the characters together, wonderful!
