Amazing camera which is easy to use as all the settings can be set up on the monitor display. Quality pictures especially in RAW mode. Nikon has a great support system online where you can download manuals, firmware and software. If you want to learn more about Nikon cameras there is a dedicated magazine available in the stores. Would recommend doing a photography course if you want to get the best out of the camera, especially when using manual settings. I will enjoy experimenting with all the different effects you can use. Treat yourself and invest in the Nikon D5300.

I bought my 5300 with the latest 18-55mm AF-P lens, intending to use it as a back up to my Nikon D7000, but I now find the 5300 is being used as my main camera. It is much lighter, has lots of very useful features, I never thought it would be as good, surprise, surprise, in some ways it is better, although not as weather proof as the D 7000 and the shutter life is possibly shorter I have no hesitation in recommending the D5300 for both amateur and light professional use

So far I can find nothing I don't like. The quality of camera and its results are excellent. The clarity of the 3-Inch LCD Screen is very good. It is light and easy to handle. All round a great camera, especially for the price.

Nice and lightweight, one of the few cheaper DSLRs with built-in GPS. Usability not as good as Canons, and this Nikon really isn't fantastic for the casual videographer. There's no separate video mode like on Canons and the AF-S lenses introduce horrible focussing noise. You have to upgrade to the AF-P lens if you want to avoid focussing noises, and even that isn't as fast, accurate or quiet as Canon's STM lenses, never mind their latest nano-USM ones. Plus there are very few AF-P lenses in the Nikkor range. I'm in two minds about it, so will try it out for a while, perhaps as a more lightweight carry-around camera. I certainly won't be selling my Canon 760D with its 18-135 STM lens any time soon!

Does everything I expected it to do, a pleasure to use. All I need to do now is learn how to use the advanced features.

One can use this camera with no experience - just point and shoot. The auto mode does a good job but for more professional use, there is a lack of buttons for controls. I like one button for each important function and this is a little fiddly with this camera. The image quality is great up-to about iso 800. The video quality is also great. but again, a lack of control compared to a dedicated cine camera. Compared to previous generation cameras, like the D5000 and D5100, it is brilliant. The battery capacity is reasonable and the kit lens (18-55mm VRii) is a good all-rounder.

Although Nikon may have moved on some time ago (my old D50 can still provide good photos, too) there is no need always to buy the most expensive, up-to-date cameras on offer. The D5300 produces excellent photographs which everybody but the professionals, will accept as high quality. It is also good that you can still acquire all the accessories you need for older equipment. The one downside of this model is that there can be too much on the back (knobs, buttons, etc...) which can be inadvertently struck and will alter things.

I have the 5200 and would love another camera as I have six lens and having to change my lens when I want a shot with another lens ,It would be best to have another camera so I would not have to change lens that often.. The 5300 would be great as all my lens will fit and I love Nikon and would know who to use it straight away .. Its a very good Camera .. Thanks Steve from Hull
