A true story of the Doolittle Raid and the first bombing of Japan in WWII.
Thirty Seconds over Tokyo is a first hand account of the Doolittle Raid and is one of the greatest stories ever told. I read this book for the first time in elementary school and subsequent times through high school and college when I came across it in the library. The book is written from the point of view of Ted Lawson and is written the way you would expect a 25 year old military man to write. Ted describes training, the mission to bomb Japan, landing in China and evading the Japanese despite his horrible injuries. It is a suspenseful story that anyone interested in WWII should read. I would recommend this edition of the book because it contains new photos that were never in previous editions. It also contains a forward by Ted's wife explaining their life after the war and another that ...
