Valley of dust and fire
The valley of dust and fire is almost a must for and DM who sets his players in the deathtrap that is Athas. I say almost since i find the book to be useful in the regards to, in my opinion its for high level adventurers. Consider the city of Ur Draxa, aka the doomed city. Not only is this location in the heart of an eternal ash storm (making flying or levitating impossible), the city is protected by a perfectly smooth 720 feet high wall that is about a quarter of a mile thick. All this seems intimidating but the last piece is, it has enchantments to prevent ethereal and astral travel. If by some means you were to make it over, you'd be mobbed by many "competent" guards. While this book is amazing in its own right about the rich history of Ur Draxa and the dragon king who hunts the land ... The valley of dust and fire is almost a must for and DM who sets his players in the deathtrap that is Athas. The main problem with it, this information doesn't sit well within a normal campaign. To actually quote the book, "The wonders and the terrors of the Valley of Dust and Fire do not integrate easily into a typical DARK SUN campaign." To use this book takes a lot of work on the DM, and will cause more then a few player deaths.
