    Solid, Large Storage Device

    At 5TB, this will provide a great amount of backup and/or satisfy additional storage needs. WD My Books are not the fastest external hard drives, but they are well designed and quiet. Using USB 3.0, these drives can sustain write speeds between 70 to 100 MBps depending on size and quantity of files. Total usable storage is approximately 4.54 TB after overhead which is still a generous amount for a single moderate-high performance drive.

    Lots of Fast Storage for a Great Price

    This My Book external 5TB USB 3.0 drive was very easy to set up - plug and play. Runs quietly and unobtrusively right next to my tower. I didn't time the transfer rate, but seemed fast when doing full back up of my 4TB main HD.

    wd elements 5g

    Had problems getting my computer (32 bit win 7) accepting the size of the hd. After downloading a cure from wd, it reformatted same in some way, and now everything works great.

    Be careful removing the usb from your computer, you need to eject it safely from windows (like with a mac)
