Sometimes you don’t need a G-Master lens, but you need a lot more than a cellphone camera. The 24-240 may not be the sharpest lens that I own, but it certainly stands up to photos intended for email or any reasonable enlargement. Importantly, it is not too heavy, it is on my camera when I need it, and I don’t have to juggle lenses when I just want to be out on a nature walk with friends. They’ll be using their cellphone cameras, but my pix will be the wow! ones that everyone wants a copy of.

I bought this lens for the advantage of having a wide range of focal lengths in a one lens walk around setup for a variety of photography needs. While physically it fills that need, it doesn't live up to the quality of image I was hoping for. Images are soft, its slow to focus, and seems to hunt for focus quite a bit before settling in. Ive tried different focus settings on the camera (Sony A7R) and some work better than others, thought I still shoot a bunch of images to make sure that I get at least a couple that are usable, I would say most of the time 30-40% aren't very sharp. The image stabilization in the lens did help in smoothing out hand held video, however I would still use a tripod to get the steadiest shots. I think for the price this lens is a bit of a failure, I would place it more in the $300-400 range, and Ive got cheaper lenses than that, that have taken as good or better photos than this lens.Read full review

This lens is basically exactly what I expected: with such a wide zoom range, it offers a diverse range of uses, and is the perfect walk-around lens. However, you do sacrifice sharpness and low-light performance, and overall the images it captures are underwhelming. It's definitely not my go-to for professional photoshoots, but it certainly fills in the gaps when my 35mm is not wide enough and my 50mm doesn't quite reach. The specific lens that I purchased had some body damage, including a massive scuff on one side and scratches on the glass itself. However, all of this was in the descritpion and in no way affected the performance. Overall, I'm happy with this lens and until I can afford the prime lenses that cover this range, I'm glad to have this one in my toolbelt.

I’d rented this camera several times, before making my purchase. The convenience of zooming from 24mm to 240mm can’t be understated. I do a lot of video for events and this provides the flexibility I need at a moments notice when I don’t have the time to switch lenses. It’s obviously not going to be as good at certain things compared to other specialized more expensive lenses. But you’re paying more for the run and gun convenience that 24-240mm provides. For low light, it does okay enough; but definitely use something faster if you can. Overall I’ve been pleased with this lens and the value is good.

i am using it with a sony a7rii. The focusing is fast and accurate at all ranges. The images are sharp and clean, though at the widest there is some softness around the edges. Though it is not the fastest lens, it is adequate for most pictures. i would recommend this lens for those looking for a single all around lens for travel rather than having to carry multiple lenses with them

Good, all around lens covering the most useful range. Instead of adding a longer lens for +240mm, I use crop mode and that allows shooting through the best part of the optic, rather than buying a cheaper lens that may not be as sharp or spending $1000 on a fe lens.

I have not used it much, but so far I like it. The AF is relatively fast as is the aperture adjustment. The only negative is that it is quite heavy and feels a bit awkward on the very thin Sony mirrorless camera. Te setup feels very front heavy (because it is).

I've had several Minolta lenses adapted to the Sony E mount but moving the adapter and changing lenses was time consuming. Since buying this all purpose lens, I carry only this and a superwide. Yes, it's heavy but for a lens with this focal variable I don't find that a negative. Zoom ring is tight but lessens zoom creep. This is a great lens and I hesitated buying it after reading reviews but for all around and traveling, there are few alternatives.

As expected from reading reviews Image no quite sharp, but that is to be expected from a super zoom. Otherwise well made, solid. Autofocus works great. Overall a good lense, not as sharp as a prime. Good for general purpose shooting especially for the price.

I was in need of a good walk around lens to take on trips or to use on photo walks on the weekend. I wanted something with reach and this seemed like a great choice. I was worried about all of the negative feedback I saw inline about the image not being sharp or the images being unusable but my fears were put to rest when I began to use it. While not the sharpest lens out there it certainly produces very useable images. I’m very happy with my purchase.
