Well, All the original Phantasy Star RPG's are great. But sadly, not many strategy guides were made for them (even after re-releases in collections). So as for Phantasy Star IV, your only option for a decent guide is to look for this rare strategy guide. This "Official Players Guide" was published by Infotainment World Books and authored by Raymo and Sawyer (former Sega Visions editors). The guide itself is actually quite well done. Beyond the walkthrough, it has maps, screenshots, character information, side quests, weapons and where to find them, spells, skills, and even the 14 combination attacks. The cover looks nice too and shows the same color picture that is on the Genesis cartridge and box. My only major gripes are: 1. All 165 pages are in black and white; and 2. The information on certain specifics, such as enemy HP, is in its description, not itemized in list form like most guides. Also, some information, like weapon strength and MP consumption are not present. Minor complaints, but worth noting. Overall, it is well worth getting and makes a great companion to the game.Read full review
