About this product

Product Information

Vampire Night is the result of a collaboration between Namco and Sega development house WOW Entertainment. Reminiscent of the House of the Dead series of light gun titles, Vampire Night follows the exploits of two enigmatic vampire hunters -- Michel and Albert -- as they attempt to vanquish the evil Auguste and his loyal minions once and for all. The Arcade mode provides the main focus for the game, allowing one or two players to blast through six stages; each of which is concluded with a stand-off against a powerful boss character.

Gameplay consists of shooting anything and everything that appears onscreen (with the exception of the hapless villagers). Though few will be able to survive a barrage of bullets, each creature has a unique weak spot, which, if exploited, will bring about their demise far sooner than would otherwise be possible. Villagers that do happen to wander onscreen are usually under the influence of a parasitic creature known as the Sarcoma, which latch onto various parts of their hosts' body. Shooting these parasites will free the villagers, however, should you hit the villager, the Sarcoma will transform them into werewolf-like beasts who will then try and attack you.

While fashioned after the aforementioned Arcade mode, a Special mode exists that provides the player with various tasks to complete in addition to finishing the game. New items and weapons can be unlocked upon completion of these tasks. Money collected during the game can also be used to purchase new equipment. A Training mode offers 17 mini-games to take part in, though many of these are initially locked and can only be played upon satisfying particular criteria. Hunter's Files and Rankings provide information on the various beasts, characters, and items found in the game and the player's scores, respectively. The game supports both, the original GunCon and the latest GunCon 2 peripheral.

  • Vampire Night ( Playstation 2 )

Vampire Night is the joint venture between Namco and Sega. These two no dought are the best when it comes to light gun games and Vampire Night is no exception. You play one of two Vampire Hunters set to take down Dracula the main man him self. And yes it is a 2 player game. The game play is like the House of the Dead series but instead of zombies you shoot down creatures of the night. You can't hide behind things like in the Time Crisis games instead your trying to gun down everything you see. This game mechanic allows for some serious action. If you fell frogy try the training mode granted to have you cursing up a storm as your arm falls of from trying to pull the Guncon trigger faster than humanly posable. The only gripe is the story line done in typical House of the Dead and Time ...

  • Hidden gem!!! Rail shooter fan must own.

Awesome game. I love the vampire theme. Graphics are pretty sweet too for the time period. I can't believe I'd never heard of this game. Truly a hidden gem in the rail shooter genre. I would highly recommend this game to any rail shooter fan. I've already beat the arcade mode, but now I'm going back threw the special mode missions which I'd recommend a strategy guide( I googled one myself). Voice acting is horrible but funny(think House of the dead series). Very pleased with this purchase. I'm pretty sure I've put more hours into this game than my time crisis games put together.

  • Good rental if you're looking for a guncon game.

Vampire Night is a very short game. And if you use the guncon controller by the time you finish this game you will have "Incredible Hulk" sized forearms. In each chapter you will fire your gun hundreds of times forcing you to pause to rest your trigger finger. The game looks great and is fun, but I found I had to play in increments to rest my burning forearms. No doubt this is on purpose as the game is very short and I beat it in two days even while taking long breaks. It has some replay value as you can find items by shooting certain items--different characters give you clues as to where they are or what you are supposed to do to find said item. Unfortunately, this game, like many guncon games, confuses action and suspense with nonstop firing. I like my games to have peaks and valleys ...

  • Perfection (as it should be)!!!!

Vampire Night couldn't have been a better port from the arcade to your PS2. With a few added console bonuses, I can't think of a better way to unwind after a long work day by killing vampire vermon(no offense to our "friends" of the night). It's the perfect stress reliever besides sex. This game is loaded with little easter eggs but, do take my word for it. This game is also very rare so, if you can find it, without a shadow of a doubt. BUY IT!!!!!

  • Great rail shooter game

Excellent simple shooter game. If you just want to point and shoot this game is very entertaining. Not an overly difficult game, but can provide some fun. If you want to use the Guncon controller you will need to have a NON LCD/Plasma TV. Otherwise, you will have to use the regular controller.
