About this product

Product Information

Metal Slug Advance brings back the classic side-scrolling shooter from SNK in an installment for the Nintendo Game Boy Advance (GBA). Released in 2004, the game is considered part of the canon for the Metal Slug series and continues on with the missions of earlier games, including those created for the Neo Geo and other game systems. The game opens at a survival camp, where several new recruits are training with the mission of joining the Peregrine Falcon squad. Not long after the recruits arrive, a blimp appears above the island, and General Morden’s troops parachute down with the intention of establishing a new base. They capture many of the recruits, leaving just a handful to fight their way through enemy lines and prevent the island from being taken over completely. Metal Slug Advance for GBA is the only one of the Metal Slug games that doesn’t feature Marco Rossi as a playable character. Instead, you have the option to play as either Walter Ryan or Tyra Elson as they face down General Morden’s men. Guide your chosen recruit through a crash course on survival, and prevent the island from falling into General Morden’s hands. You’ll have to evade capture, invade enemy camps, and scout for weapons and food to replenish your supplies and ensure the possibility of completing your mission. The GBA game plays much the same way as previous Metal Slug games, although there are now two new systems. Instead of having extra lives, characters now come with a life bar, which depletes as they take damage from enemies. Health can be replenished by collecting food items throughout the game. The card system gives players additional information and even boosts, depending on the type of card collected. You can get cards by completing certain missions, such as by freeing hostages or by shooting parts of the background. Certain cards enhance your abilities or unlocked special slugs, giving you an additional boost. If you’re working toward a confrontation with the final boss, your mission is to collect all 100 cards—a monumental task in itself. Run-and-gun your way through several missions on your GBA, and collect new unlockables while defeating your enemies. There are five total mega-missions scattered over exciting new environments, including limestone caverns and rivers of lava, with plenty of enemies to fight in each level. By rescuing hostages and other affiliates located throughout the game, you can unlock mini-missions, giving you hours of additional gameplay. Fans of the previous Metal Slug games are sure to find something to love in this Game Boy Advance version. The side-scrolling adventure is packed with action, and you’ll recognize the vehicles available to your characters, which include the Metal Slug and the Slug Gunner. There are also two new vehicles: the Slug Type-R, which fires a vulcan gun in tandem with the direction your character is facing, and the Black Hound Slug, which is equipped with a bazooka. Both can be unlocked as you advance through the game. For fans of the Metal Slug series or of side-scrolling shooting games in general, Metal Slug Advance for Game Boy Advance will provide hours of play. New characters, a strategic card collecting system, and new items to unlock give this classic a breath of fresh air.

    My metal slug advance review

Everything about this game is awesome and good it is everything you could want in a video game. This one is definitely one of the greatest gba games ever one of the best looking, sounding, fun and memorable games in the video game industry period actually. The graphics are very colorful and stylish always looks great. the music is on point and gets you all tingly. The gameplay is intense, challenging, fast paced, with soldiers, tanks, choppers and paratroopers everywhere and will keep you with guns blazing from beginning to end but that's to be expected from any metal slug game right? always the same formula but always awesome entertainment. This is one of my favorite metal slugs and the only one that was ever on the mighty Gameboy advance now and forever of course but they definitely ...

  • Good but short

The games graphics are amazing but there are very few levels. The gameplay is pretty good but I did experience lag when there was too much things on screen. The 100s of collectibles add extra things to do when you finish your game but are very hard to get. I would recommend this game to others
