Why would someone steal a box of rocks? And why would a rich man's wife pay $3,000 to get them back? These questions haunt Sgt. • another great mystery in the series

I have a become a fan of the Tony Hillerman Navajo Country mysteries, of which this is one. They are an interesting mix of gritty mystery, great characters, and learning about Navajo culture in a respectful way. I can't put them down. I learned about the books through the TV series Dark Winds, which I really enjoy. The TV series drew heavily on this particular book, and the book came with much more detail in terms of story. But the TV series uses indigenous actors/writers/directors, which brings so much They inform each other well.
