Product Information

Lancaster gives a memorable performance as the demented Doctor Moreau who performs bizarre genetic experiments on animals--turning them into man-beasts known as humanimals. His experiments continue uninterrupted until a mariner named Braddock shipwrecks on Moreau's island. Shocked by the immoral nature of Moreau's work, Braddock tries to stop the mad Doctor but finds that he has an army of humanimals to reckon with first. Based on H.G. Wells' 1896 novel.

    Great scifi / horror classic. Burt Lancaster in a very different role does a wonderful job. The DVD arrived early in great condition.

    An ultimate Drive-in classic.

    Great cast, good story, and very good special effects and make up for the era in which it was produced. I feel this version is far and away superior to the laughable Marlon Brando version.

    Oldy but goodie

    .I saw this movie at the theater when it first came out. I wasn't very old so didn't understand much at the time but always remembered the bear. Watching it again was very entertaining. There is a version with Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando but is more gimmicky. I like the Burt Lancaster version better.

    This is the 2nd best rendition of the story of Island of Dr Moreau. The film was engaging staying close to the plot line. The photography was spectacular. Great value for the price.
