Product Information

Director Ridley Scott's breakthough film, an immensely successful blend of horror and science fiction, is a classic in both genres and spawned a host of sequels and imitators. Starring Sigourney Weaver as warrant officer Ellen Ripley, ALIEN focuses on the crew of the space cargo ship Nostromo, which lands on a moribund planet in response to a faint SOS. Inside a crashed ship, the crew members come upon strange pods, one of which spews forth a repellently fleshy insectile creature that locks on to the face of the unlucky Kane (John Hurt). Despite Ripley's advice, science officer Ash (Ian Holm) allows Kane to return to the ship, where the creature finally releases its grip. Soon, however, in one of the film's most infamous scenes, one of its offspring explodes horribly from Kane's stomach and scurries away. Dallas (Tom Skerritt), the vessel's captain, leads the others in a search for the rapidly growing, acid-dripping alien before it can cut them down--one by one. A triumph of art direction, set design, and special effects, ALIEN gains much of its impact from the contrast between the bleak, antiseptic beauty of the space vessel's interior and the primordial horror of the alien, a brilliantly original fusion of insect, man, and machine designed by Swiss surrealist painter H.R. Giger. The top-notch cast also includes Veronica Cartwright, Yaphet Kotto, and Harry Dean Stanton.

    Great SciFi Movie

    I repurchased this movie, because the one I had was locking up, which I contribute to DVD rot. I really like this movie as well as "Aliens", I also have both of these movies on Laser Disc as well. The movie is suspense and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This movie is also made for a big screen and will immerse you in the action, when I say big screen I mean a 110" or bigger. This was also the first movie my wife and I saw together.

    Scary movies

    I had already seen all the movies but never had collected them. I only watched the last two as I had the 1 & 2 on VHS and had seen them recently, which is why I wanted the last two. They had very clear pictures, were in excellent condition. I am very pleased with my purchase. I think they all are scary, but the first one was the scariest.

    Scared 😨

    Had to stop watching when they brought in the character (played by John Hurt) with that thing attached to his face. I turned into a complete whimp and stopped the DVD player. Decided to take the movie in small doses. I will endeavour to begin the next installment of terror real soon. One can assume the film fulfilled its purpose in a way that only Ridley Scott could do. Partially watched, the movie still gets five stars. In the meantime I've had thoughts of how interesting it would be to begin marketing Covid face masks inspired by the alien creatures.

    Top tier sci-fi horror film!

    Alien is truly one of the best sci-fi horror films of all time! As soon as it was delivered and dropped off in my mailbox i watched it and loved every second of it.

    The horror king of 1979

    When I first saw this film on Blu-ray I was stunned on how good it was. It make you feel like you are in the movie. Sigourney Weaver has an awesome performance in this movie with the other actors with her.(Rated: R)
