    THE YOUNG MESSIAH

I thought this movie was slow moving at 1st but as it went along and I understood what it was about, I really liked it! I think it mostly was made by the writers opinion of what Mary, Joseph, and the young Jesus were thinking as they realized Who exactly Jesus was. Since I form my opinion by what I think the Bible is saying, anything added to it to me is someone's opinion. I'm not saying it's not true but I think it's important to not have opinions that are not in the Bible itself. I can't imagine raising a child that I knew was part God and only part man. It's hard to think what it would be like to know your Son would grow up to be the ultimate sacrifice for mankind in order to have eternal life because of an ultimate love that forgives sins. The emotions of His parents can only be slightly felt as a parent of 5 sons myself. It was great food for thought.

It felt off to me for some readon

This movie had a feel to it that seemed weird somehow. Later, I saw It was based on something Anne Rice had written. She is not someone who’s writings I would consider Christian. This movie made Jesus seem like he didn’t know who he was. Plausible if he were a toddler, but not older. And that he had no control over his powers. Made Jesus seem more “magical” rather than authentic. If you’re looking for something authentic this won’t leave you w that impression. Was kinda slow and boring really.

  • The Young Messiah

The film was loosely based on Anne Rice's novel of the same title. While I thought the young actor who played Jesus was a bit namby-pamby in his portrayal, I suppose he played the part as he was told. The supporting characters were excellent. There was one scene that historically seemed wrong to me. Jesus and his parents are leaving Alexandria on a ship to return to Nazareth. The ship was leaving AT NIGHT during a terrific storm!! NO! Not historically accurate! Ships left ports during daylight and NEVER during a storm. The bottom of the Mediterranean is littered with ships that sunk during storms. While the ships did sail at night, they did not leave port at night. Sorry, I'm a Middle Eastern History buff and I expect details like this to be historically accurate, even when liberties are taken with the stories themselves.

  • One of my all time favorite movies!

A wonderfully done movie. The set design, costumes, cinematography is all superb! This is based on the fiction novel by Anne Rice so it is not fact based so keep that in mind. That being said it is an amazing movie of what one would imagine a year in the life of a young Messiah. The boy that portrays Jesus is amazing and does a fantastic job! This is 10 out of 5 stars in my opinion. I LOVE this movie!

  • What was Jesus' childhood like?

Marked for death at age two (or thereabouts), haunted by Satan all his life, and not quite knowing who he REALLY was until around age twelve, hunted by Roman soldiers, this is a film about the child's life loosely based on the scriptures.

  • Don't was your money.

This movie was not biblically accurate, total fiction and not one bit believable. I was very disappointed. It had great potential.

  • A must see film!!!!

I read the reviews, some good, some not. Though it is some speculation on the early years of Jesus, I found it to be very moving. It was such an eye opener to the human struggles that Jesus had as a boy and learning his role in GOD'S plan for our salvation. I highly recommend this movie.
