  • Not much has changed in the last 670 years.

Not much has changed in the last 670 years. Our response to pandemic- pretty much the same. Leadership's willingness to abandon or exploit constituency to the point of actual death- pretty much the same. Was surprised at how much I remembered from first reading 40 years ago. She won two Pulitzer, and I have not read either of them, but it would be hard to do better than this. Book itself was in very good condition, but did not resemble in any way what looks like a collector's edition that is pictured- luckily it's pretty easy to read between the lines, and not expect anything more than what was received.

  • Great History - but get a more modern printing on thinner lighter paper stock!

Book great history of France in 1400s - didn't realize this copy would be so old & yellowed - we'll see if my sinuses & allergies clear up now that I am not reading it - & on such heavy paper that the volume's weight would make reading it painful on my arthritic thumbs & hands.

  • Settle in to a another century.

The only problem is that your stock photo is not stock. It is of a Franklin Special edition not of the stock item I received, I got fair value but you need a stock photo that represents what is being sold. The book itself is compelling and well written, but one expect that from Barbara Tuchman. It's abig book and well worth the effort especially if you love history.

  • A true classic, brilliant yet readable.

Phenomenal book.. I have read it every few years for the last 40 years, and give away copies as gifts to friends and children of friends. If you want to read compelling and insightful and engaging history, you must read Tuchman.

  • As interesting as fiction

Totally corrupt PopeS, bubonic plague killing half the population of Europe: it doesn't get any better than this.
