  • Great account of ww2, at a personal level.

After reading winds of war, watched the tv mini series. So now it’s on to this book. Great author.

  • Shows how WWII affected real people

This is a great classic, showing all sides of World War II with a compelling story line that shows how lives were affected on all levels. Despite the serious tone it is told in a readable interesting way, so never boring. Highly recommended if you want to be better informed about world events of the past, and if you enjoy historical fiction.

  • "HUNH?"

I am a student of WWII. This book portrays "historical fiction" accurately and is a compelling read. My one complaint would be the insertion of "von Roon quotations" that appear to be something that Wouk added. They flesh out the story but the way that they are presented is unnecessary.
