About this product

Product Information

As with most of the Atari 5200 launch titles Atari rolled out, this version of Super Breakout is essentially the same as the version released for Atari 400 and Atari 800 computers (whose central processor is the same as used in the 5200). In fact, until Atari later substituted Pac-Man as the pack-in game, Super Breakout was included with every Atari 5200. Yet the big difference here is the 5200's lack of a paddle controller. The joystick is a poor substitute for a knob, especially once the ball starts zipping around the screen at top speed; some homebrew 5200 paddles have hit the market in recent years to rectify this situation. It could be argued that had Atari included Pac-Man, rather than Super Breakout, with every new 5200, it might've stood a better chance against the Colecovision's one-two punch of an Atari VCS adapter as a launch accessory, and Donkey Kong as its own pack-in title.

I like the fact that its old schooll technology with today's lineup.i liked it but not fell in love with it. I wouldnt say its bad given the fact how old the technology os. Even my new lg-k7 phone has some glitches. The screen pauses on my game in the 3rd or 4th qtr of the game from time to time. . After that, it erases every game u had played for the season. I was told by a friend that my nintendo might get hot and freeze the game. But i have spent 4 hours + playing the original tecmo superbowl without a single line or studder in the game. When u change plays, during the gam in your playbook, your screen gets black patches in the playbook after that all through the game. When ive intercepted a ball, the player u think has the ball doesnt and another one off your screen starts to run towards the endzone for the touchdown. All u see is the #2 ontop of the player. Eventhough u are player 1. This happens from time to time as well. Other tham that, its like the original game. Liked it but not in love with it.
