Fifteen years after a horrific experience in a deceptively inviting ginger bread house, an orphan Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have become famous for ridding the countryside of witches. Despite their stellar success record, the brother and sister face a unique challenge when an extremely powerful witch is identified as the culprit stealing children from a local village with the intent to sacrifice them in an ancient magical ceremony to be held on the night of the Blood Moon. Hansel & Gretel - Light and fun, but won't hurt your head.
This movie has completely, and intentionally over the top semi-comedic action gore scenes from start to finish. The characters are fun, and well played. The plot is shallow, and simple, this is not a brain teaser movie. Nobody is going to say "This was a great movie". I think you need a decent plot for that. But, if you're just wanting to be entertained for a few hours it has fun, funny, over the top action and silly-gore (Army of Darkness style). The dialog is not periodically accurate, it's modern, sarcastic action movie dialog in an odd non-existent period of history in some place where apparently Witches are a Bit of a problem. The time period is.....something like the late middle ages/Salem witch trial era....only some people have guns. kind of a mix of swords, and crossbows, and shotguns....you know that time period.....yeah fictional. Don't think too much, or expect a deep story, and just enjoy the fun ride. It is plenty entertaining. But it won't be the best movie you see this year.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
