Bose Wave Music System III, an exellent radio and CD player
This was a fantastic bargain on eBay, and I am very happy with its performance. It has excellent FM radio reception (and up to 5 presets) without the need for an external FM antenna (it uses its power cord for this purpose), and the flat, compact remote is easy to use and responsive. A User Guide was easily downloaded from Bose's website as a .pdf file. Best of all, for such a compact player, the sound is wonderful, and with enough power to easily fill a large room. There are no tone (e.g., bass or treble) controls, but none are really needed. The player also includes a small pin-type headphone outlet and even a stereo external pin-type input to connect, for example, an mp3 player, both at the player's rear. The system includes a clock with alarm and, when playing a CD, stopping the playback, switching sound sources (e.g., from CD to radio) and back, or shutting down the system, restarting and playing in CD mode will resume playback from where it left off (in the same track, at the same point in that track).

sounds good but clunky
So this is the third Bose Wave system I have purchased. I started with the straight radio and loved the sound. Then I got the CD with the door on top and loved that. When the CD stopped working (Bose doesn't repair them apparently) I bought this with the 3 CD changer. The sound is still very good but the CD changer is very loud and sounds like some medieval torture device as it cycles through the CDs. The instructions are a tad complicated and I don't know if you can just play one CD if you have all slots filled so when I go to bed at night I just put on the sleep function and it shuts off at some point. Hopefully the excessive noise in the CD system, when changing, is not a sign of longevity issues.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Bose equals great sound but...
The Bose Wave music system equals great sound, but both its CD player and its accessory CD changer are temperamental to say the least. Whereas other CD players I have will play any CD without a hitch, the Bose is choosy and won't play some CD's even if they're brand-new without scratches. Also, Bose has changed their Bose Wave players so much that they aren't "fixable" by the company because the parts are no longer available. You'll get a generous trade-in value if you want to trade your old one for a new one, but you can't get your old one fixed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Excellent sound and exactly what we were looking for.
I bought this used on ebay and really enjoy it. The Bose sound is legendary and this unit delivers. If there is any negative, it's that the unit MUST use a remote control to operate it. There are no buttons onboard, so if the remote goes missing, I have an expensive door stop! It has an aux. port to connect an Ipod or some music device, and is a single CD player as well. The radio doesn't work in my area, but I understand it has a port for an external antenna. Bose Wave w/ CD changer
Great system for using with CD's. The sound is very good for the size of the unit. The bass feel doesn't carry as well as some shelf units. If you need a compact system that's easy to use, I would recommend the Bose. I don't know when a repair will be needed, but it's nice to know that Bose will repair for a reasonable price. Bose Acoustic Wave Music System II is the best and this is the 50 plus unit I have bought for myself or friends.
Bose keep improving on this design and I have one that is 20 plus years old and this unit is so much easier to use and my friend who I forced him to let me buy one loves it. I hooked up his old cassette tape deck to it with some jazz tapes and they never sounded this good. I played CD's through it and it was amazing, we never even bothered with AM/FM. I have helped friends buy so many of these but I know I'm over 50. No one has ever had any problems or regrets in spending this kind of money. Once you use a Bose you will ask yourself, why did I wait so long. Had several opportunities to meet Dr. Bose and you could not meet a nicer man and when I told him about cars, boats, planes and how many units I had bought he talked to me in Chicago for hours.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Forced to add a title! Who's stupid idea is that?
While the quality materials and sound make this a wonderful unit, the lack of manual controls are a major disappointment. Great Simple to Use System
Bought this to just listen to music and the radio and to do that without complexity. This fulfills those goals perfectly. Although the base notes are a bit heavy, the overall sound quality is very nice, especially at the lower sound levels that I favor. It has a small footprint (fits on top of my dvd player), yet fills the room without multiple speakers. Set-up is so easy as to make me question whether I missed something. There are no controls on the box itself, but the remote is simple to understand and use. Hardest thing was to determine which electrical outlet to plug it into. If I had to complain it would be about the high retail price (which I didn't pay) and the time display is a bit small to view easily from across the room, but that is about it. Wish I had got one with the multi-disc changer, but for the price and less things to break, I am extremely satisfied. If you enjoy tinkering with multiple dials; hook-up arrangements and such things to obtain the optimum sound experience you probably will want something else, but as for me, I just want to listen to music with the least hassle possible and this does that to a T.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great Sound
The sound is unbelievable. It makes you want to listen to all your CD's! This is a pre-owned unit but we haven't had a lot of problems with it. Once in a while a CD will skip but not sure if it's the CD's fault or if it's the Bose. Even the music coming out of FM stations sounds wonderful.
